005 For Tomorrow

Named after of one my favourite Blur songs.  I have been photographing the steadily decrepit West Pier on Brighton as long as I can remember and have been determined to use one of the pics in an artwork for a long time.  This image from 2025 shows the Pier literally on its last legs.

The planes overhead were taken from a poster at Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker in Cheshire with the placement giving the impression the bombs have dropped - destroying the pier. 

The shark bomber plane was taken from a bar in San Francisco adding a bit of comical menace to the scene. For me this image has both a sense of melancholy and hope much like the song that inspired it. 

Made using original photography giclée printed on to Hahnemuhle Daguerre poly-cotton canvas and Awagami Unryu Thin paper assembled on a mounted wooden panel with layers of acrylic paint, spray paint, graph paper, Linen Ribbon and screen printing.
